Qualifications:
- Technical training in Welding, Metal Fabrication, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and assembly plans.
- Knowledge of welding quality standards, weld inspection methods, and welding defect identification.
- Proficiency in MAG welding (Process 135/136); experience with structural steel welding is highly preferred.
- Experience in grinding, fitting, and fabrication of heavy steel components.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant welding experience in heavy equipment manufacturing, steel fabrication, construction machinery, shipbuilding, or related industries.
- Experience working with fine-grain steel and large fabricated structures is an advantage.
- Familiarity with measuring tools and quality control procedures.
- Valid welding certification (NC II) is an advantage.
- Ability to work at heights and Willing to work on Shifting Schedule
- German: Basic knowledge (Level A1/A2), willingness to learn
- English: Good English skills (at least Level B1) for everyday communication in a professional setting as well as for navigating daily life in Germany (e.g., housing, shopping, government agencies, and transportation)
- Physically fit and capable of working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Welding of sheet metal and/or pipe joints requiring inspection on fine-grained steels in various positions (PA, PB, PC, and PF) on prefabricated assemblies with material thicknesses ranging from 6 to 100 mm
- Welding process 135 – MAG (see “Requirements for Welder Testing at Liebherr-Rostock GmbH”); other processes may also be required in some cases
- Welding according to technical drawings in accordance with the welding and inspection plan
- Welding in accordance with general principles for avoiding stresses and distortion or according to specified welding sequence plans
- Filling root passes with carbon electrodes
- Visual inspection of completed work in accordance with our quality requirements
- Independently rotating small assemblies using a console or bridge crane
- Operating and utilizing welding tractors and fixtures, such as a tilt-and-rotate table or component manipulators
